LehighValleyNews.com to Launch Moon to Mars Special Coverage
for International Space Week – October 4-10, 2023
Bethlehem, P.A. – October 2, 2023 Lehigh Valley Public Media announced its free online news source, LehighValleyNews.com, will feature special coverage of NASA’s Artemis program during International Space Week from Oct. 4-10.
The project, "Moon to Mars" will include in-depth articles and videos and focus on local companies and individuals who have been key contributors to global space exploration.
“Since our launch nearly one year ago, it's been LehighValleyNews.com’s mission to provide high quality local news and coverage,” said Jim Deegan, Executive Editor of LehighValleyNews.com. “With the heightened global awareness of NASA’s new space program – we have taken a local angle to share how individuals and companies with ties to the Lehigh Valley are making significant contributions."
Nearly 50 years after the Apollo missions that captivated the nation and the world, NASA’s Artemis program seeks to land the first woman and first person of color on the moon. It also seeks to lay the foundation for a sustained human presence on the moon and serve as a launch site to do what until now has been reserved for science-fiction movies – sending humans to Mars.
The series will spotlight local companies like Bosch Rexroth, which services and supplies hydraulic components for the crawlers that transport spacecrafts to the launch pad; Acopian Technical, which provides electrical systems and was part of the Apollo programs of the 1960s; and Bally Ribbon Mills, which makes the fabric for spacecraft heat shields.
The "Moon to Mars" series will include installments from Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 4-6, and Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 9-10 and you can find the content at Lehighvalleynews.com/moontomars
