BETHLEHEM, Pa. (WLVT) - They call it the most delicious week of winter.
From Jan. 26 to Feb. 1, Bethlehem's downtown restaurants will offer fixed menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner for Winter Restaurant Week.
''Restaurant week is an entire week filled with amazing cuisine,'' said Tammy Wendling, manager at Downtown Bethlehem Association. ''It’s a lot to cover in one week!''
Wendling's group, the Downtown Bethlehem Association, works to advance businesses within the city of Bethlehem. She says the group organizes summer and winter restaurant week to get people interested in downtown eateries.
''It’s a great way to get people down here,'' said Wendling. ''They can try something new and hopefully that will encourage them to come back.''
Timothy Widrick is the lead chef at Edge on Broad Street. He runs the restaurant with his wife and business partner, Karen Widrick.
This year marks the couple's six-year wedding anniversary and 18-years in business in Bethlehem.
''I wouldn’t want to work with anybody else,'' said Karen.
The menu at Edge is new-American with French and Asian influences. Dinner options, like a burger or steak, average $14 to $24 dollars.
The couple says they've been working to keep up with the times.
''We’ve been playing around a lot more with vegetarian dishes,'' said Karen, ''because that seems to be what more people are going for.''
Throughout restaurant week, which begins on Sunday, guests are invited to take a picture of their plate and post it on social media using the hashtag ''Post Your Plate.'' The post may be selected to win a gift card to participating restaurants.
There are 22 restaurants participating in restaurant week, including The Melting Pot, The Flying Egg, Billy's Downtown Diner, Twisted Olive and Urbano Mexican Kitchen and Bar. Visit getdowntownbethlehem.com to see a full list of participating restaurants.
