BETHLEHEM, Pa. (WLVT) - Iron Chef Jose Garces stopped by the PBS39 studios this week.

He was in the Lehigh Valley to tape segments of St. Luke’s "Cooking for Baby & Me," part of the health network’s fit-for-life programs to encourage healthy eating.

We were there as a crew from Hype413, Inc. produced the segments, and afterward, Garces had a tasting for PBS39’s Leadership Society of Donors.

Garces told PBS39 Tuesday that something to keep in mind when preparing family meals is understanding how ingredients can be both versatile and healthy.

The dishes he made on-set used blackberries in a frozen dessert and nectarines with a yogurt snack.

Garces is no stranger to this area. He has a 40-acre farm in Bucks County, where he grows crops for the restaurants he runs in the Philadelphia area.

The newest one, “Stella,” just opened in New Hope, Bucks County. Garces says it offers what he calls “American small plates.”

Segments of St. Luke’s "Cooking for Baby & Me” can be seen on PBS39, on televisions in the health network’s waiting rooms, and on its YouTube channel.
