BETHLEHEM, Pa. (WLVT) - The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce (GLVCC) put on a show Thursday at its annual meeting, held at the Wind Creek Event Center.
More than 1,200 people applauded several people and businesses who received awards for their years of service to the community.
Lehigh Valley International Airport, celebrating 90 years, was named the 2019 GLVCC Business of the Year.
"How about 24 consecutive months of positive passenger growth? Actually, 16 percent year-to-date growth. That’s fantastic," said Thomas Stoudt, executive director of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority. "We are a team. In fact, we are a family, and when we put all those pieces together in this vital puzzle, we become the best regional airport system in North America."
Saucon Valley Country Club, celebrating a century of service, was one of four businesses to receive "Milestone Awards."
"The idea is that this would be a club that lasted perpetuity," said club president David Kennedy. "I think our 16 founders would be very proud of where we are today and where we will be 100 years from now."
Engineer Bill Erdman was honored as the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year. With more than 40 years spending time in the community, Erdman said he’s just doing his part.
"A shout-out to all of the many volunteers that contribute their time, talent and treasure to make the Lehigh Valley a great place to live, work and play," he said, as he received his award.
