LONG POND, Pa. (WLVT) - The Pocono Raceway is hosting its final NASCAR race of the year this weekend, and fans came from across the world for a weekend of racing.

“The grand strand, the fan shops, and the race,” said 8-year old Gavin Kelly, as he described his favorite three things about the Pocono Raceway. He’s been coming to the track with his family since he was three years old, and he said he loves every part of it.

The Kelly family is from Long Island, N.Y., and Gavin’s father, Brian, said coming to NASCAR weekend has become a tradition for them. “We get up close to the drivers, and we get to go into the garage,” said Kelly. “There’s just a lot of things to do. You’re never really sitting idle, unless that’s what you want to do.”

Since 1984, Pocono Raceway President, Ben May, said the raceway has had two weekends for NASCAR Cup Series racing, but in 2020, NASCAR will consolidate the weekends into one. “They had an idea and said, ‘hey we want to run a double header,’” said May. “We were like ‘yes, we love it.’ We love everything about it for the fans.”
