Shernell Pierre of Emmaus, With Cooked Meals Ready to be Donated

Confidence can be tough to come across for disabled girls, and woman. But Shernell Pierre of Emmaus has plenty of it. Shernell is diagnosed with intellectual developmental disability. She uses both poetry and her confidence to inspire others. “I love the whole world, and I just love the whole world, I try to be inspirational to someone else in case they need an uplift, I tried to be that example.” Says Shernell.

During the COVID-19 pandemic Shernell is spending her time cooking for the homeless, and getting ready for whenever the next Pennsylvania Miss Amazing Event is. Melanie Maresca is the state chapter President and says the pageant type events help the girls open up, and build confidence like never before. “It’s Pageant style, it's not a competitive environment whatsoever it's a very empowering environment. All of the girls get crowned for participating, every single one gets a princess crown, and a trophy. Everyone walks away feeling that they have accomplished something.”
