ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WLVT) - On Wednesday, Allentown City Council met to consider Resolution 86, which includes a number of police reforms.

But outside of city hall, two protests opposing each other carried on.

There were several verbal confrontations between a group supporting Black Lives Matter and another called Back the Blue that supported police, but there were no reports of violence.

Alex Colon of Black Lives Matter Lehigh Valley told PBS39 he thinks it's misinformation dividing the two sides.

"There's a lot of division that's based on misinformation, misconceptions, and frankly problems don't get solved if there's no communication," he said.

Council did not vote on Resolution 86, despite some council members thinking there would be, said Councilwoman Ce-Ce Gerlach.

"Tonight some of us on council were under the impression there would be a vote on this resolution," she said. "But due to it being a committee-of-the-whole we did not vote. We discussed. We discussed every single bullet point. The chief (Glenn Granitz) was available to provide his perspective and pretty much every member of council provided their perspective on each bullet point."

The next Allentown City Council meeting is set for Aug. 5, however Resolution 86 won't be voted on until the Aug. 12 meeting.
