Carbon County residents showed support for the United States Postal Service at the Post Office in Jim Thorpe, protesting outside after delivering flowers and baked goodies to the employees.

Postal workers could not comment on the controversy brought about by Postmaster Louis Dejoy. Many are outraged after he allegedly reduced overtime and removed equipment.

“It’s not like we’re asking for extra pay or better hours, we’re asking them to keep the system running efficiently and dependently," said Frank Carazo from Palmerton. He was there to support because his father was postmaster in Palmerton for 33 years, and he says he only made positive changes to the system.

With mail delays reported across the country, and a historic number of mail-in ballots expected in this November's election, Dejoy said he will suspend changes until after the election.

The Postmaster General testified before Congress on Friday, and his testimony will continue on Monday.
