NESQUEHONING, Pa. (WLVT) - Carbon County officials say an emergency training facility is long overdue. First responders have been traveling outside of the county for training since Lehighton's emergency training facility had to be torn down in 2013.

“Throughout the years we had to travel a very far distance to other counties or even as far as Harrisburg to train, so this is going to be a tremendous benefit to have this so close to home," says Jay Michalik, assistant fire chief at Mahoning Valley Volunteer Fire Company No. 1.

Officials hope the new Carbon County Emergency Training Center in Nesquehoning will be complete by fall 2021.
